National Day of Prayer

This year President Obama has decided not to host a national day of prayer.  President Ronald Reagan started a national day of prayer in 1988 and every year till now there has been a day of prayer at the White House. 

This was approved the day after he cancelled prayer for Christians….

On September 25, 2009, from 4am until 7pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion will be held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House.

Chicago to host 2016 Olympics?

President Obama will fly to Copenhagen on Thursday evening to push Chicago to host the 2016 Olympics.  This comes after he decided to only send Michelle Obama to push for the city.  He feels that there will be more of a chance that Chicago will host if he goes.  Obama thinks he can take a day off from pushing his health care bill and push for Chicago.  He will be joined by his wife and Oprah Winfrey.

US, Britain, and France accuse Iran

On Friday President Obama and leaders of Britain and France accused Iran of building underground secret plants manufacturing nuclear fuel.  In a statement President Obama said, “represents a direct challenge to the basic foundation of the nonproliferation regime.” (according to nytimes.com, The Caucus)  American intelligence has been tracking this operation for years and President Obama decided to come out with it after Iranian officials discovered western knowledge of this.  After this came out the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization had this statement about the plant, “semi-industrial enrichment fuel facility.”

Obama is Coming to Texas A&M!!!!

How exciting!!!!! Two sitting Presidents in a years time.  President Obama was invited by George Bush to come to Texas A&M University to speak at the George Bush Library about community service on October 16th.  There are however mixed reviews about this because this is one of the most conservative schools in the country and the most in Texas.  BUT COME ON!! HE IS THE PRESIDENT ON THE UNITED STATES! duh.

Peace Negotiations in Middle East

Today President Obama put himself in the middle of peace negotiations between Israeli and Palestinian.  “It is past time to stop talking about starting negotiations, and time to move forward,” Mr. Obama said.  He believes this is absolutely critical in moving forward.  President Obama has asked the negotiators to come to Washington next week to discuss this to start the process.

Obama as a Celebrity

President Obama is set to appear on the David Letterman Show tonight to promote his heath plan and maybe appeal to a new audience. He will be the first sitting US President to go on the show.  This is his last show of the media circus he has been on appearing on manyy networks including CBS and NBC.  (why not FOX?)… Do you think he is going on David Letterman to promote his celebrity or trying to use the media a new way than other Presidents before him?

Obama reverses Bush’s Missile Shield

Yesterday President Obama announced that he was planning to reverse Bush’s missile shield in Poland and Czech Republic, to put in place a system more so aimed at short ranged Iranian missiles.  He believes that this new system will provide better defense against the Iranian new systems which have more short range missiles rather than long range.  This has been the biggest national security reversals in the Obama administration.  It has upset Poland and the Czech Republic while pleasing Russia.  Robert M. Gates, Defense Secertary, says this will put missiles in place sooner than Bush’s plan and there could possibly be missiles located in Poland and/or the Czech Republic.  He also pointed out they are not reversing it but just making it new.  This comes on a sensitive day for Poland as yesterday was the 70th anniversary of Germany invading Poland.  Maybe Obama should have a  waited a day or two to announce this? Any opinions?

Here we go with the race card….

Seriously…….. I cannot believe that the left side is pulling the race card on Joe Wilson.  This absolutely makes me sick!!! First off Obama is not even African American, he is half.  Second off the United States of America elected him President!!!! If there was really racism in this country I honestly do not believe we would have ever elected him to office.  And why is Jimmy Carter getting in on this?  Maybe he is being overly sensitive because his father was a confederate soldier…. Thank God Obama disagreed with Carter today, its the smartest thing he has said in a while.

What about me?????

I watched Obama last Wednesday and was scared to death.  I honestly went in with an open mind and the bill did provide many good points that I agree with.  WE ALL KNOW THAT HEALTH CARE NEEDS TO REFORMED.  I completely, 100% agree with that.  It isn’t fair that people without money can’t go to the doctor when they are sick, it isn’t fair that insurance companies will drop you if you start having health problems, and it isn’t fair that taxpayers have to foot the bill for those that walk into the hospital without insurance.  I get it.  What kept going off in my head was “What about me”.  What will happen when I get a job? Why would a business pay for my insurance, if I can get it somewhere else for cheaper?  He didn’t even mention that except for saying that nothing will change… but HOW??? I really wanted this answered! After the speech I watched a program on CNN explaining what just happened.  They said that businesses can get a 8% “fine” if they don’t want to pay for it for their employees, which would be cheaper than actually paying for their insurance.  As a business owner I would think ya sure i’ll pay a tax rather than paying for insurance and then you get dropped.  The only thing available then would be government run insurance.  And I am sure my compnay would not be the only thinking that too.  So how will private insurance companies survive? With this happening and more restrictions on who they have to keep and take, what is going to happen to them? My fear is that they will go out of business and we will find ourselves with only goverment run insurance.
