How exciting!!!!! Two sitting Presidents in a years time. President Obama was invited by George Bush to come to Texas A&M University to speak at the George Bush Library about community service on October 16th. There are however mixed reviews about this because this is one of the most conservative schools in the country and the most in Texas. BUT COME ON!! HE IS THE PRESIDENT ON THE UNITED STATES! duh.
It doesnt matter if you are conservative, liberal, moderate, republican, democrat, black or white, everyone at TAMU should be extremly thrilled to have The President of the United States of America come to their school. Regardless of whether or not you agree with his views, it is a huge honor to have him accept the invitation. Having a sitting president come to A&M just shows how prestigious a school we really are. If anyone at A&M is against it, then it is probably because they are one of the uneducated few that happen to slip through the cracks and earn a poultry science degree.
Because I am educated I will be absent.
Agreed Marc Jones. To say its an honor for President Obama to come to A&M is an overstatement. We don’t agree with his views which is why we didn’t vote for him, meaning we don’t consider it an honor for him to represent the United States, let alone one of the most conservative universities in Texas. Go up north to a college that cares about his views and agree with them, they actually might listen.
Katie- Perhaps you haven’t read the e-mail. He is coming to talk about service– community service. Are you an Aggie? Because in Aggieland we value service- to the highest degree.
I have read the email and yes I am an Aggie. That was not my arguement. I think its neat our sitting president is coming to speak to our campus. I was simply stating that his presents being an honor was an overstatement and that those against it are not uneducated but merely standing by what they believe.
nice blog.
Very informative!
go katie!
